Multiple-technology contactless biometer to make quick and accurate measures. Optical biometer based upon the Partial Coherence Interferometry (PCI) principle, with integrated calculation formulas.
High technology features
The AL-Scan optical biometer uses different technologies at the same time: the Partial Coherence Interferometry (PCI), the Scheimpflug camera to analyse the corneal and the depth of the anterior chamber, and the built-in ultrasonic (optional) for white cataracts.
The acquisition of the measurements required to the calculation of intraocular implants is contactless. Measuring the axial length, the keratometry, the pachymetry, the depth of the anterior chamber, the pupillometry and the white-to-white reading (diameter of the horizontal diameter) are performed smoothly and continuously (in 10 seconds) so that the comfort conditions of the user and the patient are optimal.
An essential tool
The keratometry is obtained through the reflexion of a Placido double target on the cornea. Analysing the image makes possible performing the continuous reading of the keratometry (diameter: 3.3 mm and 2.4 mm).
The AL-Scan is equipped with a Scheimpflug camera to get a section image of the anterior segment and measure the cornea thickness and the depth of the anterior chamber.
From the reading to the edition of the results of the calculation of the power of intraocular lenses, the AL-Scan offers a user-friendly browsing using the large touchscreen.
Suitable for all practices
The design of the AL-Scan is unique and makes possible integrating, if possible, a mode-A ultrasonic probe and a probe for the pachymetry. Adding this option makes possible making measurements for all the patients in a small space, still suing the same user interface.
The most frequently used calculation formulas of the power of intraocular lenses are available to adapt to any patient profiles, particularly the Haigis formula, which uses the depth of the anterior chamber and the Shammas-Pl and Camellin-calossi formulas for the patients who have benefitted from a refractive surgery.

Suitable for all practices
This device can adapt to any type of working organisation. The AL-Scan integrates a USB drive and a network connection to communicate with the patient management softwares and directly and digitally send the biometric reports and power calculations.
The readings and the results can be read from the NAVIS-EX platform, using specific viewer softwares (Viewer AL-Scan is available as an option). For instance the viewer AL-Scan makes possible calculating again the power of the implant.
Barrett formulas (Barrett Universal II, Barrett True-K, Barrett Toric Calculator) are available on the AL-Scan viewer of the NAVIS-EX platform.
