Measure of refraction
The portable model of auto-refractometer AR-1 is used to obtain the objective refraction of the patient.
Coupling the SLD (Super Luminescent Diod) and the high-sensibility CCD sensor enables getting sharp and contrast images, even when the corneal reflection is low. Compared with anterior technologies that used a classical LED lighting, this system is more efficient when the transparency of media is altered, such as in case of cataract.
The device calculates automatically, during the reading of the refraction, the diameters of the pupil and provides a confidence index of the reading.
Measure of keratometry
The auto-refracto-keratometer ARK-1 now integrates the measurement if the keratometry (measurement of the corneal radius curvature). Keratometry is useful to identify the radius curvature of contact lenses.
Keratometry measurements are performed using the double ring target technology that reduces the influence of eyelids. Both 3.3 and 2.4 diameters are measured. Both values are then compared to provide a better understanding of the cornea shape.
The ARK-1 model also includes the measurement of the peripheral keratometry.
Automation
The AR(K)-1a model proposes a 3D automatic tracking feature of the device (3D Eye-Tracking). The purpose is automatically performing the focus and making the alignment between the optical line of the device and the gaze axis easier. Once these two readings match, the measurement conditions are optimal and the measurement is automatically triggered.
Additional functions
The ‘Zone Ring’ system has been improved to simultaneously perform the measurement of the central objective refraction and a peripheral measurement. The jamming system, which now integrates the correction of astigmatism, has been redesigned to minimise the consequences of accommodation during the measurement of the refraction.
Le modèle AR(K)-1a intègre également les fonctions de mesure de l’amplitude d’accommodation et de la rétro-illumination.
Transferring the data of the objective refraction to a NIDEK automatic refractor can be performed through a cable network or a NIDEK EyeCare card.
