The NIDEK goniolens GS-1 proposes a new colour imaging of the filtration angle over 360°. It is the only automated gonioscopes on the market. It provides a quicker and more frequent access to filtration angle data.
With the GS-1, NIDEK SA innovates and makes the gonioscopy examination accessible, thanks to the automation of the acquisition of images of the filtration angle over 360°.
The gonioscopes GS-1 is equipped with a single acquisition cone made with 16 faceted mirrors reflecting the light under a 61° angle.
Applying a gel (thickness 1.5 mm) is required to capture images. The gel acts as an interface between the patient’s eye and the device.
For each of the 16 facets, 17 images are acquired at different focal planes to ensure sharp images in the area of interest. A total of 272 images are acquired in 15 seconds. The image of the unrolled angle is then obtained by assembling the 16 different shots.
It can be viewed as a linear or circular representation depending on the user's viewing preferences. The image allows the analysis of the different anatomical landmarks of the iridocorneal angle and to assess its degree of openness as well as its pigmentation.
The detection of anomalies around the angle is localised and saved to ensure an optimal tracking of the patient. Also the colour image of the unwound angle is used to schedule and control the mini-invasive surgeries in case of a glaucoma, with a better determination of the insertion site and to control the implantation of the material.
The data are saved to improve the clinical following-up and the management of patients. So, you can easily and relate the examination reports to the patient’s file or transfer them to a colleague to get a help concerning the diagnosis. So the images collected can be used for educational purposes, whatever for the patients or the continuous training of ophthalmologists. So, using the automated gonioscopy, you benefit prom a quick and more frequent access to the filtration angle data. Also, following-up the patients is easier.
Automated gonioscopy provides a quicker and more frequent access to filtration angle data and an easier following-up of the patient.
