Non-contact tonometer for intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement by air jet.
Tonometer (NT-1) and tono-pachymeter (NT-1p) models with automated measurement from start to finish. No operator intervention is required. Available with automatic pachymetry measurement (model NT-1p) for more accurate results.
The NT-1p is a non-contact tonometer-pachymeter whose particularity is to be fully automated, from the beginning to the end of the measurement process. It is the result of the combination of NIDEK know-how and technological knowledge. The new NT-1p combines automation, ease of use and ergonomic features for an optimal and comfortable clinical examination of the patient.
The NT-1p has a large tilting and swiveling screen, offering a wide range of motion and installation flexibility. This functional feature provides the advantage of adapting the device to the various needs of the patients and clinic needs.
Pulsed air tonometers are based on the same principle: they measure the force necessary to deform the eye and deduce the pressure. The part of the eye which undergoes the deformation is the center of the cornea. It is clear that if the deformability of the cornea is even abnormal, the deduction of the pressure will be wrong. This is the case if the cornea is abnormally thick (it deforms less easily) or on the contrary abnormally thin (it deforms more easily).
NT-1p: NT-1p: Intraocular pressure (IOP) values are automatically calculated by compensating for the patient’s central corneal thickness.
NT-1 IOP can be compensated by manually entering the central corneal thickness values.
Thanks to the APC (‘Automatic Puff Control’) technology, the measurement is performed very smoothly. The power of the air jet is automatically adjusted, depending on the patient’s intraocular pressure, to optimise the comfort and reduce the noise level during the reading.
